Our mission is to establish an official National Board Examination for Advanced Pharmacist Practitioners (APPs) to uphold the highest standards of clinical excellence, accountability, and patient-centered care in pharmacy practice.
 

We are a multidisciplinary coalition of pharmacy schools, practicing pharmacists, physicians, academic professors, healthcare administrators, and patient representatives united by a shared goal: to ensure that every Advanced Pharmacist Practitioner demonstrates verified competency, ethical integrity, and clinical proficiency across all domains of advanced pharmacy practice.
 

With the passage of California Assembly Bill 1503 (effective January 1, 2026) — officially changing the title from Advanced Practice Pharmacist (APP) to Advanced Pharmacist Practitioner (APP) — we are entering a new era for the profession.

This pivotal change underscores the need for a national standardized certification system that aligns educational rigor, clinical experience, and professional practice with measurable outcomes that ensure quality and safety for all patients.

The APP National Exam Board is a non-profit organization dedicated to developing and maintaining this certification framework. We work collaboratively with state and national healthcare organizations, academic institutions, and legislative bodies to integrate the APP examination and certification into existing credentialing and licensing systems, thereby advancing pharmacy practice and improving patient care nationwide.
